FRIENDS, IT’S 2020! It’s actually 2020!!!
If you’re Malaysian, you’ve more than likely heard about Wawasan 2020 a.k.a. Vision 2020 which “calls for the nation to [become] a self-sufficient industrialised nation by the year 2020, [encompassing] all aspects of life, from economic prosperity, social well-being, educational worldclass, political stability, as well as psychological balance” (thank Wikipedia, you’re a gem for intros 😂). It was (is?) a huge thing back when I was in elementary school and high school—to the point where a lot of the people I know, including myself, couldn’t help but place the year 2020 on a pedestal.
Although I’ve gotten more cynical and disenchanted over the years, I can’t help but still view 2020 as some sort of aggrandized period. It’s like this new book in a series that you can’t help feeling all these emotions for.
Anyway, enough about that! 2020 is finally here, so let’s move on to the wrap-up! For the year of 2019, I’ve…
READ – 64 books out of 50!
It’s not as much as I read in 2018 and 2017 (103 books for each year), but I’m super happy that I completed the challenge, and that I found a lot of new books to love!
Again, I didn’t complete the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge for 2019, but that’s okay! I think I made some good progress on it 😊
WROTE – 59 blog posts in total, and about 39 reviews (some of which are on this blog and some on Goodreads only).
I had a look at my 2019 Mid-Year Wrap Up and found that my opinions have changed for some.
Best Book I’ve Read
I’m not gonna go on another long rave about why I love this book so much so, long story short: this is THE BEST Asian YA book I’ve ever read. I especially love how viscous the main character is and how all the other characters have so much depth in them!
DNFed books aside, Nicholson Baker’s House of Holes is still my worst 2019.
And, I don’t mean this in a good way, unfortunately. With all the hype surrounding To Kill a Kingdom (which I still haven’t read), I thought that this one would be just as good or better than what everyone else is saying…In the end, it’s just a surprising ‘nope’ for me.

So, some other goals to achieve in 2020:
1. Write More Fiction
I haven’t been writing as much as I did compared to the time I was still in university, but I’m not going to let the world stop me from completing my first poetry collection and a novel in 2020!
2. Read More Books! (And maybe, less fan fiction)
I’m pretty sure the latter’s going to be impossible, but I’m going to try and boost my reading back up to 100 books a year, though my goal will still be 50 books 😂
How was 2019 for you? Do you have any goals for 2020? Let me know in the comments below! ❤
As always, thank you so much for reading!
Until next time and Happy New Year everyone!!! 💜💜💜
