2020 Wrap-Up and New Year Goals!

Merry Christmas/Happy Boxing Day, friends! Though I hope the year has been kind to you, 2020 has been tough on so many of us and I’m so ready to be done with this year (hence this earlier than usual wrap-up 😂)

For the year of 2020, I’ve…

READ – 118 books out of 50!

2020 snow white hates apples goodreads reading challenge

It’s an improvement from last year’s 64/50 books, and I’m so happy that I’ve read so much this year. I still have some books I’m not done reading yet, so hopefully I’ll be done with those before the year ends as well!

WROTE – 45 blog posts (including this one) in total! I’ve been trying to get back into blogging once every week but it’s not all that successful this year. Hopefully, I’ll have a better schedule and will be able to read just as much next year 👉👈

Memorable Books I’ve Read

Both Haikyu!! and Pachinko left strong impressions on be this year. It’s been a long time since I’ve read manga so Haikyu!! was a delight to finish. It’s perhaps one of the best sports shounen manga out there! Pachinko, on the other hand, is a book I hold close to my heart. It’s a heartbreaking and eye-opening book that I couldn’t stop thinking about since I finished reading it.

You can read my review on Pachinko here, and my review on Haikyu!! here.

Biggest Disappointment

I was really excited to read this since this book has popped up on my bookstagram multiple times and well, I couldn’t finish it. I DNFed it at page 19 because the writing is so juvenile and such a mess..I couldn’t even read it with a blind eye.

Biggest Surprise

Unless it’s in fanfiction or written well, I’m not a fan of romance and often avoid contemporary YA just because of this. Despite that, a book distributor gave me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review and boy, I am soooo happy they did. Tweet Cute has wholesome romance and sugary sweet fluff in spades and I completely adore it.

So, some other goals to achieve in 2020 (as written in 2019):

1. Write More Fiction

Though I made some progress on this, I definitely didn’t write as much as I wanted to and definitely did not complete a poetry collection or a novel, so this one is a major bust. I’m going to try this again for 2021 and pray I don’t get distracted haha 🤞

2. Read More Books! (And maybe, less fan fiction)

The latter was definitely impossible but I managed to boost my reading back up to 100 books a year! I’m pleased by the results and am hoping that I’ll be able to read 100+ books in 2021 too 😂

How was your 2020?
Fingers crossed that 2021 will be kinder to us all 🙏❤

As always, thank you so much for reading!

Until next time and Happy New Year everyone!!! 💜💜💜

  1. Wow 118 books!! That’s really great! Good luck with your writing goals in the new year – it’s been a tough year for creativity and I’m sure you’ll be able to churn out some words as things get better in the world.
