First Impression Friday – October Releases

I’ve been told that I’m an incredibly salty person recently, and when that’s combined with my sarcasm and sass, it can at times, produce hilarious results. Well, I don’t know about the last bit, but there are new books—of course there are new books—and I just want to fan-girl/snark about them (based on their covers and summaries) and probably prove myself wrong when I actually read them. Fun times!

28448287CLONE STORY!! I’M 100% SURE THIS IS A CLONE STORY!

Okay, I wasn’t really that into Lauren Oliver’s Vanishing Girls (the first book of Oliver’s that I’ve read) since the twist had been pretty obvious, but I have hopes that this book will be interesting at the very least. The other clone stories I’ve read thus far are mostly Marvel ones (I know, I know, one’s a comic, the other’s a novel but to-may-to, to-mah-to), and they’re pretty damn good.

Besides, look at that cover! It’s saying that there will be two stories! Double POV’s, woohoo!

28686840Okay, there’s a sudden increase in titles like this and sure, I love titles like Holding Up The Universe and The Fault in Our Stars and Beautiful Broken Things. However, the unfortunate thing is that despite their incredibly awesome titles (and beautiful covers), most of these books are average at best. The stories can’t hold a candle to their titles, and it’s a damn sad thing since I’ll still buy these books 90% of the time. Hah.

But hey, maybe this book will be alright! The summary sounds intriguing enoughokay fine, it’s sounds incredibly cliched but perhaps Jennifer Niven can spin this overused plot into something better with those ‘fresh’ characters of hers, no?

29104680I have no idea what connection the title of this book has with the summary it’s given on Goodreads, but the colors are nice, and the summary sounds incredibly good for days/nights when I just need something that’s not serious and invokes girlish giggling at the same time, to read. Junk food for the brain!

(It also sounds like those books on Wattpad that I used to read like mad as a tween/teen. Those were pretty awesome stories back in those days!)

29245653The Tempest? William Shakespeare?? A retelling???

Goodness gracious, I’m in!!

…Aha, okay, the first actual thought I had when I read the summary is actually about the Blast of Tempest anime. Although I’ve yet to read the original play (hopefully, I’ll get to it before the end of 2016!), I quite enjoyed watching the show, and I’m pretty sure I’d love this book as well~

Also, let’s have a moment to admire that beau-ti-ful cover. I need to buy this as soon as any one of my local bookstores stock it!

28503698Excuse me for a moment but…

OH MY GOODNESS!! ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND VIBES OVER HERE!!!

Okay, I’m done virtually screaming.

That virtual scream is also all I have to say about this book because I’m already completely sold. Fingers crossed that the actual story is good!

25167846“Tall, meaty, muscle-bound, and hairier than most throw rugs, Dylan doesn’t look like your average fifteen-year-old, so, naturally, high school has not been kind to him.”

I’m sold. At least 90% sold just by that single line. Yes, I’m aware that since this is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, that the guy will definitely not look like the other handsome YA love interests out there, but dang it, ‘unconventional’ characters are my weakness.

Also, Beauty is a transgender here. The remaining 10% that has been unsold is now sold too.

25036310YOU.

I SAW YOU ON NETGALLEY.

I REQUESTED YOU ON NETGALLEY.

I DIDN’T GET YOU ON NETGALLEY (which is also a good thing since I’m falling too far behind in reading the ones I’ve already got, ahahaha…)

But, it’s okay. Now that you’re going to be published, I can finally BUY you! Muahahahahaha!

28321033Creepy cover and super interesting summary? Yes, oh yes!

I think out the eight books here, I’m the most excited for this one! Ever since I discovered Anne Cassidy as a kid, I’ve fallen in love with stories where teens are involved in the darker side of life. From there, I was led into the ocean of the Mystery, Thriller, and Crime genres and till today, I’ve not looked back.

Fingers crossed that this book can already be found in Malaysian bookstores because I really want to read it now (and when motivation to read can be found, one must pursue it)!

There you have it!

I’m pretty excited to read all of the above books, and with any luck, I’ll have some time and more motivation to read every book I’ve planned out for this month…Which, I’m pretty sure won’t go as smoothly as I’d like since I’ve just been dumped with graded assignments but one can hope, no?

HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THEM? DO COMMENT BELOW CAUSE I’D LOVE TO KNOW!

    1. Right??? If it weren’t for Bookstagram, I wouldn’t have realized she was going to publish a book this year! Also, I enjoyed Nirven’s ‘All The Bright Places’ so fingers crossed that she does a good job with this book too!☺☺☺
